He submitted his work to Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine in 1996 and his one-shot cowboy manga Wanted! was published in the magazine's 34th issue later that year. Oda began working on One Piece shortly after that. The series has been running for over 20 years now and is still going strong. Oda has also written several spin-off stories for the series including Romance Dawn and Cross Epoch.
