Dailey was born in 1944 in Storm Lake, Iowa, on a farm as Janet Anne Haradon. She attended secretarial school in Omaha, Nebraska before marrying Bill Dailey in 1964. She stayed home to raise their two sons, starting to write to kill time when Bill worked nights as a television anchorman. She completed her first novel, "No Quarter Asked" in 1974 which was published in 1976 by Harlequin. Her novels have been translated into nineteen languages and have sold more than 300 million copies worldwide. Her novels typically fall into the romance genre. In 1997, her husband died and she moved to Branson, Missouri where she continued to write. She passed away in 2013.
