Background

Nesbø was born in 1960 in Oslo, Norway. He was raised in Molde and studied business administration and economics at the Norwegian School of Economics. Initially, he worked as a stockbroker and journalist, and also had a successful career as a musician in the pop band Di Derre, with several no. 1 hits.

In 1997, Nesbø published the thriller novel "Flaggermusmannen" ("The Bat") which introduced the character of Harry Hole and launched Nesbø's career as an internationally recognised author of crime novels. His novels have been translated into 50 languages and have sold over 33 million copies worldwide. His work includes series like the Harry Hole, Doctor Proctor, and Blood on Snow. In addition, he’s written a standalone novel, The Son.
