Background
Hargreaves was born in 1935 in Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire, England. After working as a copywriter in London, he started to create and sell his own cartoons and comic strips, his most famous creation being Mr. Men, which was first published in 1971. The success of this series inspired him to create Little Miss in 1981. He wrote and released new characters consistently every year until his death in 1988. His son, Adam Hargreaves, has carried on his legacy by continuing to write and illustrate new Mr. Men and Little Miss characters.
