Background
Warren Murphy was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, on September 13, 1933. Before embarking on a writing career, he served in the Air Force, worked at journalism at the local newspaper, and as a clerk. He met Richard Sapir in the early 1960s, and together, they created The Destroyer series, a popular men's action-adventure series. The first book of the series, Remo Williams, was published in 1963 and was even adapted into a movie.
Richard Sapir, on the other hand, was born in 1936 in Brooklyn, New York. Before teaming up with Warren Murphy for The Destroyer series, he had worked as a reporter and editor. After the success of the Destroyer series, he ventured into other writing projects. His standalone novel, The Far Arena, was a critical success. Sapir passed away in 1987, while Murphy continued writing and passed away in 2015.
